Embryo transfer was today, it was scheduled for 10.30 and I had to have a full bladder for the transfer, Got there at 10.15, oh wait a minute the Doc had been called out to Hamilton Hospital for a emergency in theatre so i had to wait a hour and a half with a full bladder !!!!WOOH!
Dont EVER!!! try and have a full bladder wth bruised swollen ovaries !!MY GOODNESS! iT hurts bad. So i squirmed and read a mag squirmed some more tried to read mag then that was it i couldnt hold on any longer we didnt know when my doc was coming back so nurse said i could let a little bit out, WHAT!! a 'little' bit? how on earth do you expect me to stop once i start powerpissing everywere? but i did! You dont get this far and ruin it not being able to hold onto you wee wees!!! Any way one hour and a half later and three mini pees my doc turned up.We cant remember her name as it was a indian name but we decided to rename her shanti!And she had a new protege learner doc with her another indian man we named him Scotty! (anyone who watches shorty st will understand and see our humour)
But in the end the transfer went well & number 4 embryo went in, pretty much like a smear test but they put a ultrasound scan on your tummy so they can watch the embryo get squirted in and VOILA!! andrew saw it go in (on the tv monitor)he reckons it looked like a shooting star he he, so we will leave it up to the universe now, just got to wait the 2 weeks until our blood test to see if it has worked.
Ahhhhhhhh we drive home get the usual decaf from cambridge oh & another pee stop. Oh and no speeding tickets this time yay!! So this is were the pain should stop, ISNT IT???

Get home, find my position on the couch and BANG!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The cramps start!

I think my body is just over being injected poked prodded lately and is telling me to LAY OFF WOULD YOU!!! ok ok i promise no more we are just going to kick back and take it easy on number 4. Andrew has his late dads gold ring on and we seem to have luck when he wears it so he will not be taking it off!
here is a break down of what happened to our embryos as of today. as we had 4.
Number 1-Only at 4 cells today
Number 2- Only a 6 cells today
Number 3- 8 cells but a bit of fragments in it
Number 4- 8 cells looking great !!! SO that was the one that went in.
We want to have at least one embryo frozen (just in case this cycle doesnt work out)so we are going to hear from the clinic next week as to if our babies have been put in the freezer or didnt make it :(
Hopefully over the next few days the other embryos show promise and they will get frozen.
The nurse told me to continue as normal and to not overheat my body so no netball and hot pools but retail shopping is a GIVEN!! so i shall splurge and buy myself a new jacket tomoro as i dont have a winter jacket.
SO thats it for now folks continue to read as i will no doubt be updating every day or two with my latest misadventure, off to watch the rugby now and toast to baby4 with some grapetise BOTTOMS UP!

Nos 1 and 2 sound promising! Yay! Not sure about the fragments ... I didn't come across that myself. Those little embryos do amazing things - I had an egg that didn't fertilise, and then suddenly a day later there it was! Up to the same stage as the rest of them! Booya! In the end it was one of the 5 frozen blastocysts (considering we started with 18 eggs, I think it was a rather clever little embryo!!).
I'mm be thinking of you over the next two weeks ... just remember not to wriggle too much - you want that little embryo to be able to hold on ... not to be wiggled off! ;-)
Aha, dont watch shorty street but Im cracking up about dr shanti and scotty, hehe!! Good luck for numba4!! and Go the All Blacks and my boyfriend - Danny Carter!!! Haha!!
yeah simonne the nurses said when the cells split someimes it doesnt split so cleanly and leaves little bis of itself so those become the fragments, but it could still come right. OH no dont say dont wiggle im trying to work myself up to have a crap! scaed i will push my little freckle out!! ha ha
Lisa! Do you not notice how much dan carter looks like rocket (our brother!) ha ha ok well sort of, anyway we lost, but the graetise was good.
